FAQ

Q. What is Blender?

A. Blender is a tool that lets you create virtual 3D objects, scenes and animation. It is free to use for any purpose. It has great community support and is 100% open source.

Blender is developed and managed by the Blender Foundation in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The Blender Foundation is an independent non-profit public benefit corporation. Blender is free and has no hidden catches – there is no advertising in the application nor “premium” versions to purchase.

Blender is free because it is developed by volunteers from all over the world (including Andrew Buttery, the owner of Blender Training who contributes small bits and pieces of code) and there is a vibrant community supporting artists, designers, effects artists be they beginners or experienced veterans looking to change from other packages such as 3DS Max or Maya.

You can download Blender from the blender.org site (http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/).
